MICHAEL JACKSON

This commissioned portrait is a tribute to the controversial but extremely talented musical genius Michael Jackson, who had a significant influence on my formative teenage years. During this time I became increasingly involved with soul, R&B and funk, ultimately paving the way for my appreciation for hip-hop. This is my second portrait of MJ, capturing the essence of Jackson in his youth. I find his earlier appearance more fascinating than his later adult image, even if his musical contributions remained exceptional throughout. Next to Prince, I consider him to be one of the most talented and outstanding artists of this time. When I think about such musicians, I wonder if we will ever see an artistic caliber of this magnitude again in the future.
